Separated from Bentota by a bridge, Aluthgama offers you a unique holiday destination with an assortment of water sport and activities on the Bentota Ganga. There are a variety of accommodation options in the vicinity and a small, busy market place for you to explore in order to gain firsthand experience of Sri Lankan culture. The Galapota Temple which is in the vicinity is believed to have initially been built during the 12th century, but was subsequently destroyed by the Dutch during their rule over the coastal belt of the island in the 16th century.
